    We are so excited to have one of our students, Annie Carr, on today’s Honor Air flight. Annie is documenting the trip of John Staley, an East Tennessee World War II veteran. Mr. Staley’s first look at World War II was landing on the beaches of Normandy during D-Day. Here’s Mr. Staley discussing the experience.

    Annie will be using the footage from our interview with Mr. Staley and her coverage of the trip to DC to create a mini-documentary.

    Medal of Honor documentary premieres in Knoxville

    Medal of Honor: The History, a documentary, premiered Monday, March 31 at Regal Rivera theatre in downtown Knoxville. The 2014 Medal of Honor convention commissioned Knoxville-based Rivr Media to create the 44-minute documentary. The premiere was attended by Medal of Honor recipients Hershel “Woody” Williams and Sammy Davis, the Knoxville and Knox County mayors, organizers of 2014 convention and more than 500 people from the Knoxville community.

    Taylor Hathorn, journalism and electronic media fourth-year, sat down with Medal of Honor recipient Chief Warrant Officer (Ret.) Hershel “Woody” Williams when he was in Knoxville on March 31. Williams earned his medal for actions in the Battle of Iwo Jima during World War II. He is the last surviving Medal of Honor recipient from that battle and one of seven living Medal of Honor recipients from World War II.
